Resist: Agonizing Answers 悶答

Yoshinaga Masayuki and Moriyama Daido launched the Resist Photography School in 2006 to pass their experiences on to a new generation, and to encourage new talent and individualism while participating in direct exchange through the production of photographic works. The goal is not to study photography techniques, per se, but rather to think about what to take, why to show photography to others, and why to use photography as a medium for expression. One must face oneself, and if that remains elusive, then knowing what to point the lens at will be impossible. Before taking a picture, a photographer must ask: who am I? While facing up to things once disliked or avoided, and consequently agonizing over those things, the photographer must then give the fullest, most personal answer possible. Repeating this self-questioning and answering, self confidence grows. The will to continue taking photographs is thus integral to this title, Agonizing Answers. These answers of the present moment, which each individual discovered inside despite the agony, are now revealed. Dates: June 12th (Tues) to July 1st (Sun). Always open, admission free |
resist写真塾 6期生修了 写真展開催 「resist写真塾」は写真家の吉永マサユキ・森山大道両氏が、自身の経験を後進に伝えるため、また作品制作を通じて直接的に交流しながら新しい才能や個性を応援するため、2006年にスタートした。 写真の技術習得ではなく、何を撮るのか、なぜ写真を人に見せるのか、なぜ写真で表現するのかを考えることが目的。そのためには自分と正面から向き合い、自分のことをよく知らなければ、何にレンズを向けるべきかが分からない。 写真を撮る前に、自分は何者なのか、自分のイヤな面・見ないようにしていた面を直視し、「悶え」苦しみながら自分なりの精一杯の「答え」を出す。自問自答を繰り返しながら自分を信じて写真を続けていくという意が「悶答」というタイトルに込められている。 1人1人が悶え苦しみながら己の中に見つけた現時点の答えが、ここに示されている。 会期：2012年6月12日(火) ~ 7月1日(日) 会期中無休 / 入場無料 |
